Please join us in congratulating our very own Team Wayne Tallon Rink, on their induction in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame.
Skip Wayne Tallon, mate Mike Kennedy, second Mike Flannery, and lead Wade Blanchard have all had impressive curling careers as individuals, but it was as a team that they reached their pinnacle from 2013 to 2015.
While together they had a 54 and 8 record, Which included representing New Brunswick at the 2013 and 2015 Canadian senior Championships, winning gold in 2013 and bringing home Bronze in 2015.
In 2014 Charles Kingston accompanied the team as the alternate when they traveled to Dumfries Scotland for the World Senior Men’s Champions.
Proudly wearing the Maple Leafs the team went unbeaten with an 11-0 record. The team defeated Sweden 7-2 in the final, to finish off one of the most impressive runs at a World Seniors, and bringing home gold.
“It is such an honour to be inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of fame, especially this year, their 50th anniversary. Explained skip, Wayne Tallon. This team was built to win, but it took a lot of work and dedication for us to be able to come together and play at the level we played at. It was a privilege to wear the Maple Leaf and win with these guys, and now to be recognized for all that we did together, it is just such an honour.”
The NB Sports Hall of Fame class of 2020 will be inducted into the Hall on June 27th at the Currie Center on the University of New Brunswick campus.
